Lung Wah Hotel 龍華酒店 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

Everybody wanted some exercise today and since we haven't been to Shatin for quite some time, someone suggested visiting Lung Wah Hotel for some roasted pigeons. Well, sounded like a brilliant idea to me.

Taking a walk down memory lane here......I still vaguely remembered this passage where my parents used to guide me along when I was little.

Didn't know that Lung Wah has its own mascot now.

Roasted pigeon 龍華脆皮燒乳鴿 ($89) - This is probably one restaurant in Hong Kong that we don't really need a menu to fire away. Starting things off was of course their signature roasted pigeon. Underneath the crispy skin was perfectly tender pigeon meat. Very nice as always.

Braised pigeon in soy sauce 龍華豉油皇乳鴿 ($89) - Somehow the braised pigeon in soy sauce never got the love it deserves. I thought it's almost as good as the roasted version. Almost.

Deep fried tofu cubes 椒鹽石磨山水豆腐 ($98) - Tasted much better than I thought. Shatin tofu is really as silky smooth as advertised.

Sliced beef with fried rice noodle 特色乾炒牛河 ($98) - A rare stir-fried rice noodle that wasn't oily at all. Not bad.

Shatin chicken congee 馳名沙田滑雞粥 ($108) - The only dish that everybody thought we could do without. The congee was way too sweet and flavorful for us not to suspect MSG in play.

Founded in 1938, the hotel side of their business is no longer in operation but their restaurant is still going strong. Let's hope that they continue to strive and keep that tradition going.
